Acne scarring has many forms and each form requires a different treatment. For example, ice pick scars respond well to application of 80-90% TCA while rolling scars respond to subcision. Microneedling can help if the needles penetrate at least 2mm. While it is usually impossible to re-create perfectly clear skin, an overall improvement of 30-40% is possible. It is important to note that superficial peels and even prescription creams will not do much of anything for acne scarring.
